Ah, there's some places where you can watch whales from land, too! Lime Kiln State Park up in Washington is famous for that, and you can often see bottlenose dolphins or gray whales from the shore here in southern California. :D
Shamu is actually BOTH a boy and a girl. ;) Shamu is just a stage name, now - the whale that was actually named Shamu died in the 60s, but they use it as a stage name for hte other whales. :P The one in my avatar is Kohana, a whale that was born here at the SeaWorld in San Diego in 2002. She's SUCH a cutie!
I'm in love with all whales, but killer whales are definitely my favorite! I grew up in Seattle, where it was an easy day trip out to see them, and totally fell in love with them! :D
XF was my first fandom, yup! :D I didn't participate in the boards as much. I was registered at Haven for awhile, but never really posted. I wrote fanfic, but looking back 5 years later, I think it was pretty crappy. :P
